A brief biography

Captain Sean has committed more than 30 years to the watersports sector. He has taught thousands in both kayaking & windsurfing and is a certified instructor in each sport. For a decade, he ran a surf shop and restaurant in Malibu, alongside several other surf and kayak outlets extending down to San Diego. After a while, he left Malibu to delve into the production of Malibu kayaks, which he transformed into an international kayak brand. His passion for sailing and boat design has led him to this point today. After many years of designing his vessels and sailing over 20,000 miles… Occasionally, one discovers that returning to their initial passion is the most gratifying journey.

First mate “Lucky Dog”

“Lucky” is a truly remarkable dog. Captain Sean discovered her at a small restaurant in Mexico right next to the boat yard when he began his Trimaran project. At just 5 weeks old, she was pleading for food scraps until the restaurant owner informed him that she was the last survivor of 7, as the others had all been caught by passing vehicles. Thus, her name! Lucky blossomed from a tiny bundle of bones into the ultimate aquatic companion. She frequently swims over a mile and delights in participating in all kinds of water sports with Captain Sean. You’ll often spot her catching waves at first point!
